Odotus on ohi, kesä on täällä!
Mitä suunnitelmia sinulla on kesäksi?
Jeremia 17:9
Johannes 13:34-35
Siunattua juhannus viikonloppua!

Hello, a wonderful Mid Summer celebration to you all.
The waiting is over, Summer is here!
What plans have you prepared for your summer? Are you one of those people, who plans everything or are you the ”go-with-the-flow” type? While we are celebrating Midsummer this weekend, the word intentional has been very heavy in my heart.
A couple of months ago I was sitting at work and a customer came in the morning and didn’t say good morning or anything else either. For some reason, his reaction bothered me. I started judging him: ”How rude, how come people just come in and say nothing”… a lot of assumption from my side. Anyway, while I was sitting on my high horse, a question came to my heart: Why didn’t I say ”Good morning” to him? Why did I expect, that it should come from him?
How many times in our life have we behaved like this? How many times have we assumed, and waited, for the other person to do and act right? How many times have we left our church feeling hurt, because no one said hello? How many times have we expected our church to be a home but haven’t raised a finger to participate in the building?
Three months ago, we celebrated Easter and usually when we talk about the suffering of Jesus, we talk about his physical suffering. That has been horrible and horrifying for someone to go through. Especially for the sins and wrongdoings, he never committed. Jesus knew his purpose. He knew why he was coming here, to give us life.
He went through that battle in his mind and in his thoughts. Can you imagine that? Can you imagine the thoughts that were going through his mind? His answer was yes, because he is intentional! He chose us over and over again. He has to say yes every minute. He came as a human to this world. That means he had all the feelings we have. At one time in Gethsemane, his feelings try to take over him, the fear and still at that moment he again became intentional and says to his Father: I am afraid, but I will do what you want. Had he done how his feelings told him, we would have been in big trouble! But he was again, intentional! Thank you Jesus!
”Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.” And there appeared to him an angel from heaven, strengthening him.
And being in agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
Luke 22:42-44
There is a saying; ”don’t make decisions when you are very happy or angry” There is a wisdom in that. Our feelings can be deceiving. So when we follow them, we may end up saying or doing things we shouldn’t.
”The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately sick;
who can understand it?
Jeremiah 17:9
You know, people always remember, how we made them feel when we encounter with them. Yesterday, my friend taught about loving our neighbors. We are commanded to love one another but, it is not easy with our own strength.
So this summer, whether we are working or on holiday or in what ever situation we are, I want to challenge us to be intentional. Be intentional, with our time, with our words, with our actions. Most of all intentional with our love.
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you … By this all men will know that you are my disciples.”
John. 13:34-35
Have a blessed Mid Summer weekend,
Rebecca
